Asian Skincare Secrets | How Do Koreans Have Such Nice Skin? | Wengie | Beauty Point

Hey guys, this is Wengie here, today I wanted to do a video all about Asian skincare secrets and this a topic of huge interest for me, and I always love hearing about like what Asians girls do to their skin, so I remember going overseas and especially to Korea, and just realizing how nice everyone skin was and I couldn’t see a single pimple on anyone, I couldn’t see pores, skin looked translucent and beautiful and I was looking around going why do these girls have such great skin, like I’m so jealous, since then I’ve always made a point to follow all the Koreans skin care secrets and try to find out how these girls keep their skin so nicely. Now I want to start off by saying that genetics is a huge part of what you skin looks like, and this can’t be changed and you are just born with the skin that you have, I guess it’s really important to be aware of this because then you can realise how realistic your expectations are and one thing I have noticed that is interesting is that people that come from colder climates tend to have smaller pores, like those cold and dry climates like Korea and even Russia the skin tends to have small pores their skin looks more translucent and I think they have thinner skin as well and that is purely in reaction to where they live and people that come from hotter climates that are more humid tend to have bigger pores and thicker skin and even darker skin because of the sun so I guess that is something to be aware of when you have skin expectations and what you are born with is your baseline and I believe everyone is born with great skin is just very very different, but there are skin care routines that you can obviously do to change the condition of your skin, which is why it’s so exciting, today I’m going to be telling you all about Asian skincare secrets in particular I’m going to be focusing on Korea, they obviously have a lot of technology, routines and products that are really really great for your skin, at least 3 years to 5 years ahead of the West and we can see that through the BB creams, Koreans were using BB creams for a long time and now we’ve only seen them pop up in regular foundations products in Australia and America, so I think it’s great to keep tabs on what’s happening in Korea. now the first thing I really want to talk about is standards and I think standards pretty much drive results of a lot of things in our live including, how often you go to the gym, how healthy you eat, and of course how great your skin is, it really depends on what you ultimate standard is, and I feel like Koreans in particular have a really high standard for skin, is not just having clear skin, is not just having a bright complexion, is also the size of the pores, the elasticity of the skin, how moisturized your skin is, they even have little machines that you put in your face to measure the amount of moisture your skin has, a lot of women carry a little purse face mist to keep their skin moisturized, because they are very aware of when their skin gets really really dry, the standard of skin is incredibly high, in Korea as well as with Asians, and that can be merely seen by the amount of money women spend on skincare products in Asia especially in Korea Koreans are pretty much the highest spenders in skincare and makeup from all around the world and it’s such a small country, while growing up my standard of skin was pretty much to be pimple free, I would be really really happy that I didn’t have any pimples, like I didn’t even realised about my pore size or anything like that because I wasn’t taught and I wasn’t aware the next thing I want to show you is the routine and habits, I think this is the next big thing, because bad skin doesn’t really just happen to you, it’s always a build up of the little habits you have you know every single day, and that is the same with great skin, great skin happens when you have good skin care habits that you do every single day, it’s in your routine and is a priority to you, one thing that I noticed is that Koreans skincare routines are super long, they have 8 to 12 step routines, I mean I grew up with clean, treat and moisturize and those were the only 3 routines that I got taught now that routine has expanded so they do things like double cleanse, they have ampoules, they may put a different serum depending on what is wrong with their skin, they have a serum for brightening, they have a serum for pore size they may have a serum for elasticity, depending on what is wrong with their skin, they also obviously exfoliate and then tone and undertone, they may have a lotion and there is also night’s creams and eye creams in addition there is also sleeping packs that you wear at night to keep the moisture in, face mask packs as well for when your skin needs a pick me up and in addition to that they also work in facial massage into the routine, so it’d be very common for Korean women to work in a 10 to 15 minutes massage every single day for their skin, I’ll be doing a video soon, on a new facial massage technique, using a DAISO tool that I bought, but I already have a spoon massage video and I’ll link it below for you guys to have a look, you can see how extended these routines are and this the reason they have great skin, of course I’m not going to stereotype, not every single Korean women as such a long routine but it’s quite commonplace in Korea and they are educated to follow these routines and if you guys want a detailed video including products on this Korean skincare routine please thumb up this video and let me know in the comments box below, next skincare secret has pretty much to do with this, is education, so knowing your skin and knowing all about skincare is a really important part of getting great skin, because the most knowledge you have the more you know what to do with your skin, and I feel skin education in Asia is incredibly high, because it’s such an important thing for women in Asia, their moms teach their kids and friends tell each other and is just a big part of conversation over there and you can learn a lot purely by being in an environment where this knowledge is so commonplace, when I was growing up, it was very hard to find skincare knowledge apart from what I read in the magazines and it’s wasn’t that extensive, cosmetic technology has improved so much these days so if you look in the shelves of Koreans skincare brands, they have a product for everything any single skin problem you have, they probably have an especialized product for it, and the sell assistants are very knowledgeable and can really direct you in the right direction, and the important thing is to understand to be really aware of your skin and know what is good for your skin, moving on to the next skincare secret, I think dermatologist and skin clinics are a huge part of why Koreans have such great skin and I remember the last time I went to a dermatologist was pretty much to get a wart removed from my foot and it was definitely not a great experience, warts look disgusting, in Australia and I’m sure in America, you would only go to the dermatologist if you have a really bad skin condition, whether it’s bad acne or a mole to be removed, it’s more like a medical place to go to, to go to an skin clinic and especially a dermatologist in Korea it’s very common, for women to visit the dermatologist regularly and regularly is every month or every week or every two weeks, depending on how much the women care or how much money they have, but the great thing about dermatologist clinics being so common is that they are much more affordable in Korea and much more attainable, I know in Australia it’s very uncommon for us to go to the dermatologist just because it’s really really expensive, because people only go when something is really wrong with them and the great thing about going to a dermatologist regularly is that they can educate you on your skin and because they have the right training, they are going to be giving you the right information and they can examine your skin carefully and these Korean women have access to that which is really really amazing, in addition they have access to a range of skincare services that are affordable and I know we have these services here in Australia, like some of them, including those laser skin services, but they are definitely not has affordable because not as many people use them so you may go to the dermatologist in Korea and they might recommend you to get you know.. Laser on your skin and then maybe a light therapy, they also have injections as well to keep your skin moisturized and plump that last for a week or two and I know women get that on special occasions if they have a wedding coming up, it really makes your skin more bright and plump and it whitens it as well, yeah it’s very very interesting because we are not exposed to that here, and I don’t normally get recommended to go there and a lot of women that use their services in Australia, in America, older women that are looking to make their skin look younger but in Korea this kind of procedure is common even for young women just to make their skin look nice and they not only have access to these specialized services that dermatologist can I guess administer, they also have a range of I guess Asian herbal and natural remedies for their skin, like they have acupuncture services that are made to clear skin up, make it look brighter and moisturized as well as to give a thinner face it’s very very interesting that hey have all these services because of the demand I guess that the women have there and demand for skincare is insane, so all these technology and research and everything that is put into it, and they come up with new stuff all the time, another really important skincare secret that Asian practice and preach all the time is sun protection and tan skin is not a big thing in Asia, they go crazy with suncare products, I know women that… Asian that wear sunscreen inside the house, because they don’t even want to have the rays coming through the window damaging their skin, it’s very common to see Asians with their umbrellas walking around in summer wearing hats, wearing everything to protect their skin and keep it really pale and away from the sun and that is actually really good for your skin, because as we know UV rays damage your skin and this can make your skin look thicker and it can make your skin look leathery earlier, so if you see people that tan a lot in the sun and don’t use sunscreen protection their skin can get quite leathery early on, it predisposes your skin to pigmentation sunspots and everything like that so it’s really really great to protect your skin and I know Koreans have a lot of skin care products, they have sun sprays, they have sun lotions, they have sunscreens with all different textures to suit every single one, they have such a broad range, because sun protection is such a popular thing in Korea, they even have those arm bands that go on if you are driving to protect their arm from the sun, so it’s not always limited to their face, they like to protect their whole body from the sun and that is something that is really important, because especially in Australia skin cancer has been a huge thing here and a lot of people suffer from it, because of our love for beaches and things like that, if you are gonna go out remember to put on some sunscreen. And the last skincare secret, I’m going to share with you guys, I think is the most important and that is your dietary and food habits, what you put in your body every single day and I feel like skincare is more than skin deep is definitely a reflection of how healthy your body is and how it’s functioning and you know what you are eating, and I feel like Asian diets promote really great skin, purely because of what they eat, they drink a lot of tea, which contains a lot of antioxidants and that is great for your skin, they consume a lot of soy products, like tofu which is also great for your skin, and one thing that I discovered that is very very interesting is that dairy.. it can actually be bad for your skin and create pimples, Asian diets normally have less dairy in their diets, researches have shown that dairies have a hormone that is great for baby cows but not great for skin and can cause acne in a lot of people, so if you have acne and you are eating a lot of dairy, it’s maybe time to cut it out, and see how that affects your skin, so Asians diets in general don’t have a lot of dairy only because a lot of Asians are lactose intolerant including me and that could be a reason why their skin has less pimples and look clear up, as part of beauty point as well, I’m going to be doing another video later that just pretty much talks about your diet and how that will affects your skin, and what some great foods for your skin, so stay tuned for that. So I really enjoyed sharing these Asian skin secrets with you, let me know in the comment box below what you think about these secrets and if you are practicing them already, and if you have any other additional tips, that you could share with me that I didn’t cover today, I’d love to hear about it, don’t forget to thumb this video up also subscribed if you haven’t already, because I’m really excited to announce a new schedule, every Monday will be an episode of beauty point and beauty point will be all about skincare and makeup and videos like these, depending on what you guys want from me, if you have any particular videos request let me know in the comments box below, next week I’m going to do a video all about face massage so that is going to be super interesting, I’m going to be showing you all the techniques and even testing it out to show how much smaller face got, from the massage process, I know I already did a previous video, but I’m going to using a different massage tool this time and I’ll show you how to use that has well, and this massage tool can be bought from DAISO for about 2 dollars seventy which is amazing, so thanks so much for watching this video guys and I’ll see you guys thursday for my lifestyle point video, bye.
